Kevin M. Whelley

Kevin was born in Queens, New York and raised here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.   Kevin obtained a Master’s Degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from the University of Scranton, and brings over two decades of experience serving the mental and behavioral health field, as well as the addiction services sector to the NEPA Pride Coalition.  In addition to his role as the Executive Director of the NEPA Pride Coalition, Kevin also serves as the Program Director of the “Y Wellbeing Initiative,” at the Greater Scranton YMCA.  Through his work, Kevin has also become a member of the YMCA of the USA’s Mental Health Thought Leader Cohort, as well as a Mental Health Community Care Model trainer for the YMCA movement, where he continues to work to advance community mental health and recovery initiatives.

Throughout his professional career, Kevin has had the honor of serving in numerous key leadership positions with various organizations, including as the Interim Executive Director of the Greater Carbondale YMCA and as the Clinical Director at Clearbrook Treatment Center and Gosnold Behavioral Health. Kevin also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the NEPA Pride Coalition from March 2022 until transitioning into his new role as the organization’s Executive Director on December 1st, 2025.

While Kevin brings a history of proven leadership to the NEPA Pride Coalition, he also brings his experience and passion for program development and implementation, staff and team development, stakeholder development and relationship building, organizational assessment and growth, as well as strategic planning and grant administration to the organization.
