LGBTQIA+ Educational Symposium

The goal of the Symposium is to provide accurate, affirming, and up-to-date education/information about the LGBTQIA+ community to the NEPA region. The Symposium is open to everyone, from business leaders and healthcare professionals, counselors and social workers, educators and students, as well as a general audience. 

 

We welcome a variety of topics focused on the LGBTQIA+ community. Suggestions include, but are not limited to:

  • Affirmative care

  • Trans health barriers 

  • Challenging bias and discrimination

  • Creating more equitable workplaces

  • Resiliency in the LGBTQIA+ community

  • How to recognize an affirmative community service provider

  • Behavioral health risks 

  • Local/state policy issues

  • Aging, estate planning, inheritance tax protection

  • Financial advising

  • Medical & health care proxy

  • Equity in education

 

Presentations will be 60 minutes in length. All methods of education are welcome, however, applicants are encouraged to diversify their presentation delivery and to utilize techniques that increase participant engagement.
